Norman F. Godwin, CPA
Norm graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting in 1993. Having grown up in Bryan/College Station, a close knit community where personal and professional contacts were abundant, Norm chose to begin his career there with the accounting firm of Thompson, Derrig and Slovacek, gaining valuable tax and audit experience and obtaining his Certified Public Accountant accreditation. In 1997 Norm moved to Austin and accepted an offer from a major national firm, Computer Sciences Corporation. CSC afforded Norm Fortune 500 experience managing accounting and software implementations for their clients including various large insurance companies such as San Antonio based USAA. Having traveled the country for two years servicing various CSC clients nationwide, Norm was promoted to an Accounting Manager position with CSC in 1999. In 2002 Norm returned to the specialty of Public Accounting and with the encouragement of numerous clients, family and friends Norm started his own firm, Godwin & Associates, PC in 2004. With numerous referrals principally from existing clients, Norm has seen his practice and staff continue to grow rapidly.
James A. Silvis, CPA, CMA

Jim is a 1995 graduate of Southern Oregon University with a Bachelor of Business Administration and Accounting. Originally licensed in Oregon in 1997, he currently holds a Certified Public Accountant's license from Texas and is also a Certified Management Accountant. Jim has the unique business background of having worked in all three major areas of public accounting: tax, attestation services and consulting. Jim's career began with two of the largest regional accounting firms on the west coast before moving to Austin where he worked for two of the "Top 25" Austin accounting firms. In 2008 Jim, with his extensive accounting background, joined the rapidly expanding firm of Godwin & Associates at the encouragement of his long time friend Norm.
Elizabeth W. Godwin, CPA
Senior Accountant
Liz is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Texas State University in San Marcos with a dual major in Accounting and Marketing. Liz has a broad range of experience in auditing, financial reporting, international accounting and compliance, and is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. She was formerly a senior auditor for two large CPA firms in Austin specializing in public and privately held companies as well as not-for-profit and government related firms. Liz then accepted a position with Whole Foods Market, Inc. with primary responsibility for Financial Reporting and Compliance for operations in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Liz brings a diverse professional accounting background to Godwin & Associates since she joined the firm in 2008 with the goal to continue to grow the firm's client portfolio through referrals and outstanding customer service.
David Ayers, MBA
Staff Accountant
Shortly after moving to Austin to attend graduate school in 1994, David accepted a part-time position with a regional bank. Although initially motivated by a desire to maintain his math and 10-key skills, David quickly found opportunities for growth within the company; over the next four years, he managed three operational departments before transferring to the bank’s investment program. His detailed knowledge of complex regulations pertaining to retirement accounts and investments established David as a key member of the financial advisor support group. At the conclusion of this first career, David managed a small back office group that focused on retirement income planning.
David brings to his new career in accounting the same commitment to excellent service and the extensive knowledge garnered from his tenure in financial advisory services. He began working with Godwin & Associates in 2009.
David received a Bachelor of Arts in History from Stanford University and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance from St. Edward’s University. David is currently completing prerequisite upper-division accounting courses to qualify for the CPA examination.
